The gas-operated Remington 750 semi-automatic rifle combines classic styling with modern manufacturing, low recoil, accuracy, excellent ergonomics and fast-cycling. The nicely balanced 750s were made from 2006 to 2015.

Remington offered these guns in both 750 Synthetic and 750 Woodsmaster versions. The two were identical except the first had a matte black synthetic forend and stock and matte blued barrel and the second had a nicely done satin-finished American walnut forend and stock and polished blued barrel. Remington also had a smaller 750 Woodsmaster Carbine that was quite popular.

Remington choose some of its favorite calibers for the 750s: the .243 Win, .270 Win, .30-06 Springfield and .308 Win. However, it also offered the 750 chambered for the less well–known .35 Whelen. The rifle models featured 22” barrels while the carbines (offered in .308 Win and .30-06 Springfield) had 18.5” length barrels. In either case, they came standard with iron sights. In all cases, Remington splendidly hammer forges the carbon steel barrels for increased strength and durability.

The carbine has a 13.5” length of pull, 1 5/8” drop at comb and 2 ½” drop at heel. It’s 39 1/8” in overall length. The rifles measure 42 5/8” overall and have the same 13.5” length of pull, 1 5/8” drop at comb and 2 ½” drop at heel as the carbines. The carbines weigh 7.25 pounds while the rifles weigh 7.75 pounds.

The 750’s aesthetics were great and combined a low-profile receiver, Monte Carlo stock, raised cheek piece, hatching/texturing on the pistol grip and forend, and swivel studs on the magazine tube cap and all the way in back near the recoil mitigating recoil pad.

The Woodsmaster’s walnut colors combined perfectly with the black of the other primary parts (barrel, sights, trigger, trigger guard, buttpad, etc.) and there is lovely harmony in the way all the parts flow neatly from one to another with no jarring lines.

The 750’s breach bolt features an electroless nickel and Teflon coating. The forend has a semi-beavertail style that offers a larger grip surface.

The 750 is a successor to Remington’s Model 7400. So it’s not surprising that Remington drilled and tapped its 750 receivers for Model 7400 scope bases. Moving to the back, 750s feature the acclaimed R3 recoil pad and sling swivel studs.
