The Roberts Defense Operator SRO is an elegant full-size M1911 style .45 ACP semi-automatic pistol that’s also available in 9 mm. Roberts Defense is a small firearms maker that manufactures almost nothing but .45 ACP semi-automatics, but the Operator SRO is the top of the line. And as such, it has great features.

The SRO in the name is due to its single reflex optic rear sight, sourced from Michigan-based optical sight specialist Trijicon. In this case, the SRO’s sight is a high-performance Trijicon RMR (ruggedized miniature reflex) optical sight. This is a dual-illumination type of sight that is ideal for all kinds of lighting situations. Fiber optics automatically brighten or dim as needed based on ambient light. Moreover, a tritium lamp blended with phosphor provides a continuous glow that illuminates the reticle in low-light conditions.

Anchoring the sights, the forged slide stop is beveled for smoothness and elegance. Barrel length is 4.25”, which helps bring overall length to an imposing 8.7”. Weight is 42 ounces or 2.625 pounds. The barrel is threaded, and thus, suppressor ready.

The frame is forged and has an integrated Picatinny rail. The gun features an ambidextrous thumb safety high at the back of the grip, just in front of the elegant beavertail.

The Roberts Defense Operator SRO has a crisp, light-weight three hole match trigger with a 400 series stainless steel bow. An open-K design trigger is optional. The gun has G10 panels and at back a grip safety segues nicely into the beavertail.
