The Rock River Arms NM LAR-15M is a two-rifle lineup that takes the RRA’s Standard A2 and A4 LAR15M rifles and improves them up to a NM A2 Rifle and a NM A4 Rifle. (NM stands for National Match, by the way, and this indicates the accuracy standard RRA is aiming for and hitting.)

Both the NM A2 and NM A4 are 5.56mm NATO chambered for 5.56mm NATO and .223 Caliber. Except the stainless-steel barrel, each is a matte black 30+1 capacity semi-automatic AR-type built around a 1:8” twist ratio 20” Heavy Match stainless-steel barrel. RRA has a passion for quality, thus barrels are air-gauged and cryogenically treated.

The NM A2 LAR-15M is the more traditional of the pair. The upper receiver is a forged A2-type upper crested by carrying handle. The lower receiver is a forged RRA LAR-15M RRA uses on many other guns. There are then several more A2 components.

The gun has a high temperature, thermo mold, free floating handguard with NM barrel sleeve. Inside is the 20” barrel. It’s fronted by a birdcage A2 flash hider with a 1/2"–28 TPI thread and topped by an A2-style Match .050 Post front sight. This is mated to a Match 1/2 x 1/2 min, .040 Hooded Aperture rear sight.

The gun has matte black textured RRA overmolded A2 knee and boot-type polymer grip. Moving down, you get a flat trigger guard bridging the magwell to grip. Within is an RRA two-stage trigger.

The main difference between the NM A2 LAR-15M and many other LAR-15Ms is the NM A2 has a heavier fixed A2 stock instead of the more common collapsible RRA 6-Position Tactical CAR stock. You get sling swivels at the heel and under the front sight. The NM A2 weighs 9.7 pounds and measures 39.5” overall. The totality provides tight 3/4 MOA accuracy at 100 yards. The gun comes with a 20-round mag.

Second, the NM A4 is the same as the NM A2 but has a forged A4-type upper receiver with a detachable carrying handle. All else is the same.
