The Rock River Arms R3 Competition Rifle LAR-15M is a .556mm NATO rifle chambered for 5.56mm NATO and .223 Caliber 30+1 capacity semi-automatic. This AR-type hangars an 18” fluted stainless-steel barrel. The barrel is cryogenically treated and has a 1:8” twist ratio. Other than the barrel, the R3 is generally all matte black.

Its upper receiver is a forged A4 with a long MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail ridging while the bottom is a forged RRA LAR-8M - Multi Caliber Marked lower receiver. In front is a 17” long latticework RRA LAR-8 Lightweight Free Float Rail handguard topped by a long Picatinny rail and flanked by plenty of M-LOK type slots, giving you plenty of room to mount accessories and plenty of flexibility in where you mount them.

Each barrel is tempered by a wrench on ported muzzle brake with a 1/2"–28 TPI thread. The matte black device is 2.5” long and weighs 4.2 ounces. Moving down, you have an RRA winter trigger guard that’s oversized for winter gloves. And within is an RRA two-stage trigger. Anchored below is a Hogue rubber grip with nice texturing and three demi-lune finger grooves.

In back is an RRA Operator CAR stock. It’s lever-actuated and collapsible with six positions. It includes an integral non-slip textured buttpad, two watertight battery storage tubes and a receiver extension. The six positions provide excellent personalization. The R3 is 35.8” overall when the stock is collapsed and 39.3” fully extended! And the gun weighs 7.6 pounds empty.

The combination of the fluted barrel and other components provides tight 3/4 MOA accuracy at 100 yards. You can also get this gun with a fixed RRA Operator A2 stock. Weight is specified as the same and length is fixed at 38”. Each comes with a 30-round mag.
