Rock River Arms RRAGE Carbine and Rock River Arms RRAGE 3G Rifle are two LAR-15M fraternal twins. The RRAGE Carbine is chambered for 5.56mm NATO / .223 Caliber. It’s a 30+1 capacity semi-automatic AR-type built around a 16” chrome moly barrel. RRA is no mere integrator, but a proper manufacturer based in Colona, Illinois. Thus, many key components are made inhouse.

The upper receiver is an extruded aluminum A4-type upper crested by a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny accessory rail. It has a port door without forward assist. The lower receiver is a forged RRA LAR-15M.

The 16” barrel is fronted by a classic A2 flash hider that’s fastened on via a 1/2"-28 TPI thread. The CAR-length free-floated aluminum handguard has a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny accessory rail on top and three M-LOK slides per flank. Inside is a low-profile CAR length gas tube, but the gas block itself sits just fore of the handguard.

Moving down, you get an RRA single-stage trigger. On the bottom is a classic A2 grip while in back is an RRA six-position Tactical CAR Stock. Weight is 6.25 pounds while the overall length of the gun when fully extended is 36”. The gun ships new with an RRA 30-round polymer mag.

The second variant is the Rock River Arms RRAGE 3G Rifle. The rifle moniker might be a bit of a misnomer. In fact, except the handguard, the RRAGE 3G Rifle is the same as the carbine down to the 16” barrel length, etc.

Now, what about that handguard exception? The “rifle” uses a full-length handguard that covers the entire gas system and almost the entire barrel right up to the thread. The handguard has Picatinny slots at front and back but not in the middle and seven M-LOK slots per side. This version weighs a tad more at 6.5 pounds. Both versions are impressive!
