The single-shot break-action Rossi Matched Pair is an absurdly affordable .22 LR/.410 rifle/shotgun thanks to its innovative functionality that permits users to easily convert from rifle to shotgun and vice-versa. This platform enjoys a redesigned ergonomic stock and forend to increase performance while boasting modern good looks. The new thumbhole stock provides extra functionality with its convenient built-in storage for .410 or .22 LR ammunition.

This Rossi is exceptionally well thought out. Switching from rifle to shotgun or vice-versa is done easily by hand-loosening the sling swivel stud and then swapping barrels. The barrels are 18.5” that give Matched Pair a 32.5” overall length and 54-ounce weight and 22” with a 36” overall length and 61-ounce weight.

The spacing and proportions mean you get plenty within its minimalist constriction that’s pared down to the, well, minimum. There are four models that are 100% identical except the color finish. Choices are matte black, tan, gray or olive drab green. All look great and cover the polymer forend and polymer stock while everything else is matte black.

The .22LR barrel features a shielded/hooded red fiber optic front sight paired with a green fiber optics rear right. This rear sight is fully adjustable for windage and elevation. Meanwhile, the .410 bore has a classic bead sight.

On top of all this, you get a left-hand lever safety and a keyed trigger lock that locks up the trigger inside the trigger guard. There are front and back sling loops too! Break open the gun, and what’s left gets ejected nicely.

Rossi’s done a great job with tactile surfaces. The hammer and opening lever are horizontally serrated. The Matched Pair has styled square checkering on the forend and grip. The recoil pad is horizontally banded. Previous versions had a more conventional full stock without the onboard ammunition storage.
