The Ruger GP100 seems to have it all: a wide-variety of mostly .357 6-round revolvers joined by a 10-round .22 LR, a pair of 7-round .327 Fed Mag, a 5-round .44 Special and two 6-round 10mm Autos. These guns also span 2.5”, 3”, 4.2”, 5”, 5.5” and 6” barrels, different grips and different frame finishes (satin stainless or black) and sights.

These guns have some great design features. For instance, the triple-locking cylinder architecture means the cylinder locks positively into the frame’s front, bottom and rear. Each model comes with its own grip but is compatible with a variety of others. The guns are designed for easy maintenance and require no special tools. GP100s feature a transfer bar safety. Drop the gun, and they won’t fire.

Without delving into every single model, let’s cover a few examples.

The standard matte-black GP100 357 Mag 6-round revolver has a front ramp sight and an adjustable rear parcel shelf sight. The frame is alloy steel. The 5-groove barrel measures 4.2”, has a long 1:18.75” RH twist and a blued finish. It weighs 40 ounces (2.5 pounds) and measures 9.5” overall. It has a nicely textured and dimpled black synthetic rubber Hogue Monogrip with three deep finger recesses and corresponding side contours. Hogues are great grips, and their soft overmolding makes them great at absorbing some felt recoil.

This same gun is available with a 6” barrel. It’s also available in a satin stainless finish for 3”, 4.2” and 6”.

The .22 LR GP100 has a 10-round cylinder, a 6-groove 1:16” RH 5.5” barrel and a beautiful grip that’s cushioned gray rubber with a hardwood insert on either side. The front sight is a dovetailed fiber optic and in back is an adjustable parcel shelf sight. Due to the barrel’s slim profile, the front sight sits atop a blade. The gun has a stainless steel frame and a satin stainless finish. Overall length is 11” and weight is 42 ounces (2.625 pounds).

There is a trio of 7-round .357 Mags GP100s. They have the stainless steel frame, satin stainless finish and the cushioned gray rubber with a hardwood insert on either side. Barrel lengths are 2.5”, 4.2” and 6”. All have a fiber optic front sight dovetailed into the frame.

The 5-round 5” .44 Special has smooth walnut grips, a gold bead front sight, measures 10.38” overall and weighs 38 ounces (2.375 pounds). It’s alloy steel and has a blued finish.

These are just some examples. There are quite a few other Ruger GP100 revolvers, giving a wide variety of choices to fit a wide variety of needs.

Ruger GP100 revolvers are made by Ruger in its Newport, New Hampshire location and thus Made in USA.
