Ruger Redhawk Basics
The Ruger Redhawk was Ruger's first foray into the large-bore, double-action revolver market. It was designed by Harry Sefried, who also designed the High Standard Sentinel revolver. It was designed to handle heavy Magnum cartridges. Each Ruger Redhawk is marked with the name of the cartridge it is chambered to handle (.44 Magnum, .45 Colt, .357 Magnum or .41 Magnum.)
History of Ruger
Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. was founded in January 1949 in Southport, Connecticut, by William B. Ruger and Alexander M. Sturm. The pair occupied a small machine shop and produced auto loading .22 caliber pistols that helped establish the company as a powerhouse firearms manufacturer. The company is still family run behind William B. Ruger, Jr.
