The Sig Sauer P226 MK25 Full Size is steel frame 9 mm double-action/single-action (DA/SA) semi-automatic that happens to be the sidearm carried by US Navy SEALs. It is 1.5” wide, 5.5” tall with an overall length of 7.7” wrapped around a 4.4” long barrel. The sight radius is 6.3”. Total weight is 34.0 ounces. It has SIGLITE sights, comes with three flush-fitting 15-round steel magazines, a standard curved trigger and textured black polymer grips fastened by a pair of black flat-head screws.
Sig’s P226 MK25 has a three-slot Picatinny rail ahead of the trigger guard. Speaking of the trigger guard, all have a flat face with a little finger rest at the bottom. These 9 mms have carbon steel barrels and stainless steel slides with forward facing diagonal serrations in back. The frames are alloy and given a hard coat anodized finish.
The stainless-steel slides have forward facing diagonal slide serrations in back and Sig’s Nitron finish. Nitron is Sig’s name for its black PVD finish. PVD stands for physical vapor deposition. It looks great and makes any gun corrosion resistant and more durable. Behind the slide is the exposed hammer and a short beavertail below it.
A nice little P226 touch is the slide’s left flank is engraved with an anchor, a nod to its US Navy SEAL patronage. The standard P226 MK Full Size also has Massachusetts and California compliant versions that feature three 10-round steel magazines in lieu of the standard 15-round steel mags.
