The SAR USA K2 is a nice steel frame steel alloy slide 9 mm semi-automatic. SAR USA is the American branch of SAR, based in Turkey. All SAR USA (SAR) guns are made there in new high-tech facility that’s full of robots and replete with other modern tech.

SAR makes a wide variety of 9 mm guns, so this K2 is no exception. But its specific niche is as an affordable dual single-action/double-action (SA/DA) gun that’s high capacity. To that end, it’s endowed with 17-round magazines that fit neatly into the beveled magazine well.

Key dimensions include a 4.6” long barrel, 1.3” width, 5.5” height and 8.0” overall length. Weight comes in at 35.2 ounces, or just about 2.25 pounds.

The gun has a good set of features. It’s not fancy, but it’s affordable, rugged, accurate and reliable. You’ll note the precision CNC machined alloy steel slide features classic white three-dot sights. The slide has five diagonal grip serrations per side in front and a few more in back. These stand out nicely from the otherwise vertical lines of the slide’s muzzle bushing and prominent rear sight.

The gun has an ambidextrous thumb safety, decocker, firing pin block, medium beavertail, a loop hammer and a lowered and beveled ejection port. The frame is also precision CNC machined alloy steel.

The trigger is curved. Very curved. The trigger guard, grip and slide serrations all enjoy about the same forward diagonal lean, creating visual harmony. The trigger guard’s front face has horizontal serrations for improved tactile feel.

SAR has a nice little design technique on some models where the grip swells / flares out on its bottom halves, but narrows behind the trigger and below the beavertail on its upper halves. The K2 does that, thus providing a big solid grip and a nice palmswell while still placing the hand closer to the trigger.

The K2 has three color motifs: the matte black K2 Black, the satin K2 Stainless Matte and K2 Stainless Matte Engraved. The matte black K2 Black and K2 Stainless Matte have a grip surround with prominent black diamond hatching all around except in front where it has horizontal serrations. Both are purposeful and attractive. But the K2 Stainless Matte Engraved stands out. Its wraparound grip is wood with beautiful white inlays. It cloaks the sides and back but leaves the front horizontal serrations as they are on its K2 Black and K2 Stainless Matte siblings.

The 17-round magazines have a red follower and counting holes at 5, 10 and 15.
