The Savage Arms 555 Single Barrel Trap break-open single-shot shotgun comes in 12-gauge and 20-gauge. It is beautiful, affordable and feature laden.

The 555s are immensely affordable single barrel shotguns, but they are still nicely thought out with many features you’ll certainly want, appreciate and enjoy. For starters, both 12-gauge and 20-gauge feature 30” barrel lengths backed by 3” chambers. Both share the black semi-gloss chrome-lined carbon steel barrels and three choke tube set (F, M, C).

The 12-gauge has a 14.57” length-of-pull while the 20-gauge has a 14.75” length-of-pull. They also share semi-gloss finished silver colored a steel-insert reinforcement integrated into the aluminum receiver, and the receiver scales in size in accordance to gauge. Both guns measure 47.5” overall and weigh 7.5 pounds for the 12-gauge and 7.3 pounds for the 20-gauge.

Regardless of model, these two 555s are ambidextrous. Their forends and curved pistol grip buttstocks feature resplendent oil-finished Turkish walnut.

The 555 Traps have laser-cut checkering in pennant surrounds on the forend and grip. In back is a manual tang safety. They have manual shell extractors that keep spent casings in the gun but in easy reach.

Both models have a black semi-gloss elevated vent rib topped by a front bead sight and three interchangeable chokes, meaning Full, Modified and Cylinder (F, M, C) choke tubes. The other end is pretty great too: the comb rest is easily adjustable for height, and in back you get an impressive skeletonized thick black buttpad that does wonders for recoil mitigation.

While you might assume these Savage 555 Trap shotguns are made in USA, they are in fact Made in Turkey by Kofs Makina in that beautiful country’s southwest.
