The Savage Mark II (aka Savage Mark 2) gives you a dizzying 23 picks in .22 LR bolt action rifles backed with value including Savage’s own AccuTrigger. The breadth of offerings is thanks to choices for scope or no scope, wooden or synthetic stocks, stainless steel or carbon steel barrels, Monte Carlo, thumbhole, sporter, tactical, varmint and other stocks, length-of-pull, barrel lengths ranging from 16.5” to 22” and right-hand or left-hand versions. It’s an impressive lineup that seems to offer something for just about anyone needing a .22 LR bolt action.

In just about any configuration, the Mark II has iconic, fine lines. The various models come standard with 5-round or 10-round detachable box magazines. Several have checkering enclosed by decorative pennant surrounds on both forend and the grip.

Many of the models are offered with a black synthetic stock. It’s lightweight but strong, just like you’d expect. Others have hardwood or wood laminate stocks.

The Savage .22 LR barrels have a 1:16” RH twist.

These rifles have Savage’s two-stage AccuTrigger. Savage uses AccuTrigger on its guns for good reason. Among other things, it is user-adjustable across a pull pressure range of 2.5 to 6.0 pounds and prevents the rifle from discharging when jarred or dropped. Speaking of safety, there’s a two-position sear-blocking safety lever that prevents the firing pin from striking the primer that’s located behind the bolt arm on the receiver’s right hand side.

Another outlying model is the Mark II TR. It looks like an expensive tactical rifle, but it’s actually impressively affordable since the tactical stock is actually made of black hardwood.

The carbon steel fluted heavy barrel is 22” long, length-of-pull is 13.9” and overall length is 40”. To make life easier for owners, two-piece Weaver-type bases are included. The gun weighs 7.5 pounds, and it has three swivel studs. There is also a Mark II TRR-SR. It’s the same as the aforementioned Mark II TR but has a tri-rail system by adding Picatinny rails to both sides and by swapping the Weaver-type bases out for Picatinny rails on top too. The barrel ends in a 1/2”-28 TPI muzzle thread.

Savage Arms is based in Springfield, Massachusetts.
