The SIG Sauer P320 Nitron Full-Size and P320 Nitron Compact are two all-black size variations on a high-quality but relatively affordable striker-fired 9mm Luger or 45 Auto semi-automatic. And these pistols come standard with stainless steel slides, polymer bodies, a pair of magazines and high-contrast 3-dot sights.

Both P320 Nitron Full-Size and P320 Nitron Compact feature a Nitron-finished stainless-steel slide and a matte black polymer grip module. Nitron is SIG’s name for its PVD (physical vapor deposition) finish. This wonderful coating appeals to the eyes and makes any gun corrosion resistant and more durable.

The two 320 Nitrons are very, very similar but differ in detail, not concept. Thus, they vary in barrel length, frame size and magazine capacity.

The P320 Nitron Full-Size has a modular polymer grip module! It has a mild beavertail and a capacious five-slot Picatinny accessory rail under the muzzle. Its nice, predictable curved trigger makes it easy to enjoy range time straight out of the box.

Nitron Full-Size’s 4.7” carbon steel barrel sits in a stainless-steel slide that gives the gun an 8.0” overall length. It is 5.5” tall, 1.4” wide and weighs 29.5 ounces. The long slide gives an impressive 6.6” sight radius. You can get the Nitron Full-Size with either two 17-round mags or two 10-round mags for Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois and New Jersey state-compliance.

The slightly smaller P320 Nitron Compact houses a 3.9” barrel; it’s 7.2” long overall, 1.3” wide, 5.3” tall and weighs 25.8 ounces. There are currently four Compact SKUs. You can get steel 3-dot contrast sights chambered in 9mm for either two 15-round mags or two 10-round mags. The latter are Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland and New Jersey compliant.

You can buy the Compact also in 45 Auto. It has upgraded SIGLITE sights and features a pair of 9-round mags. SIG offers the same in 9mm with a pair of 10-round magazines. This fourth Compact SKU is Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts and New Jersey compliant.

SIG ‘s great ergonomics means the grip angle is ideal (and echoes that of M1911s). The tactile points are serrated for buttons and catches, and aggressively non-slip textured around the grip. The slides have forward-leaning grip serrations on both front and back.

Integrated in the grip module is the combat trigger guard. It has horizontal serrations and gentle concave surface and a deep undercut at back.

Each P320’s magazine release can be easily configured for left-hand or right-hand use. Also, for safety, P320s feature a Loaded Chamber Indicator (LCI), striker safety and a disconnect safety.
