The Smith & Wesson M&P9 M2.0 Compact Threaded Barrel is a compact 15+1 striker-fired semi-automatic. It’s a member of the larger and popular M&P9 family that ranges from 10 to 19-round magazines and various sizes. This polymer pistol is a multi-purpose gun that’s good for professional, self-defense or sporting use.
Of course, the key defining characteristic of this specific model is its factory-threaded barrel that is suppressor-ready and comes with a thread cap.
The Smith & Wesson M&P9 M2.0 Compact Threaded Barrel has two models: a standard 15-round double-stack magazine version and one with a lower capacity 10-round double-stack magazine. Both are steel with a blued finish.
On this gun, everything feels right. The grip has an 18-degree angle. It is much more sculpted and chiseled with tumblehome flanks that are wider at the base than at the top. The grip reaches high up, and this means the bore axis is closer to the user’s hand. The result? More control, more comfort, less muzzle flip and thus faster follow on shots.
Both slide and barrel are made of stainless steel and given S&W’s own Armornite nitride finish that combats wear and enhances durability. The barrel is 4.625” long and has a 1 to 10” twist. Overall length is 7.9” and the gun weighs 27.4 ounces.
The slide’s contiguous rear serrations have grip optimizing wave patterns. It also has a few semi-spherical front serrations. Atop the slide is a white dot front sight and in back a two white dot sight. But instead of the usual low-profile sights, these are raised to work in conjunction with suppressors. Both sights are dovetailed into the slide, and both are made of steel.
The polymer frame has an ambidextrous slide stop and an ambidextrous magazine release. Inside the frame, the stainless-steel chassis has stability-enhancing and flex-reducing extended guiderails.
The gun has a three-slot under-muzzle Picatinny accessory rail. Making everything happen is the new M&P M2.0 trigger. It has an audible and tactile trigger reset and has been designed to have a lighter trigger pull than its predecessor.
The grip has a nice tactile texture all around that adds modernity to the looks and feel.
The gun ships with a pair of 10 or 15-round magazines and with four interchangeable backstraps, making it easy to optimize palm swell and trigger reach.
