The Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded lineup includes nine .45 ACP and one 9mm models spanning OD/black, black and stainless-steel color schemes, skeletonized hammers and triggers, beautiful grips, upturned beavertails and more. Beyond being good-looking, this series is feature-rich, imposing, impressive and practical. These 1911 Loadeds are delight both to hold and behold, and you’ll enjoy them for target practice or self-defense.

This Springfield 1911 lineups has several groups. In .45 ACP, there are three 1911 Loaded Marine Corps Operator models, a single 1911 Loaded Operator, several 1911 Loaded guns in all stainless or in black and a stainless 1911 Loaded Target gun. The stainless 1911 Loaded Target also has a 9mm variant. With that out of the way, let’s delve into details.

The 1911 Loaded Marine Corps Operator .45 ACPs have black Armory Kote finished slides on an olive drab (OD) frame. What contrasts nicely to the black slide and OD frame is the 5” long stainless-steel 1:16 twist ratio match grade forged barrel. Height is 5.5” and length is 8.6”.

This .45 ships standard with two 7-round each. Both the slide and frame are forged carbon steel. The steel frame gives it substantial heft compared to aluminum alloy frames and means it weighs 43 ounces. Springfield Armory uses a strong forged slide, forged barrel and a forged frame for amazing quality. In contrast, other companies often cast theirs. Forging gives these guns a durability advantage.

This gun sports a low-profile combat 3-dot tritium sight set.

Speaking of slides, the slide has both front and back forward leaning grip serrations. In back, is a skeletonized and horizontally serrated loop hammer, an ambidextrous thumb safety and below that a grip safety. It also has an integrated three-slot Picatinny rail under the recoil spring housing. Note: these guns use a GI-style recoil system.

The curved trigger is circular ported and has vertical serrations along its concave face. The grips are wavy G10 polymer grips with octo-grip checkering along the frontstrap. They look great, feel great and their gray palette color scheme goes very nicely with the gun’s other colors.

The same gun is available as a separate model. It differs only by having a Pachmayr wrap-around grip instead of the G10 and octo-grip combination. A third SKU is the California compliant model that is completely identical.

The 1911 Loaded Operator is all black with a self-lubricating chemically bonded Black-T polymer finish that protects against impacts and rust on the slide and frame. It uses G10 grips and comes with two 8-round magazines. This bigger capacity takes advantage of the gun’s blended magwell architecture.

There are four “1911 Loaded” as opposed to “1911 Loaded Operator”, etc., models. All are .45 ACP. Two are black and two are stainless-steel. Each color has a standard model and a California-compliant model that’s actually identical to the standard one. The separate SKU might be simply for marketing purposes. In any case, all have the same dimensions as already mentioned above except they weigh a solid 40 ounces and two 7-round magazines.

The 1911 Loaded models differ from the aforementioned models in several ways. One, they lack the three-slot Picatinny rail. Two, they use lovely Cocobolo tropical hardwood grips with beautifully done diamond hatching and the famed “double arrow” flat head screw surrounds at top and bottom. Each is punctuated with Springfield’s famous crossed cannon rondel at center. You’ll see the same insignia etched into the slide flanks. And three, each has the Springfield Armory National Match full-length two-piece stainless-steel recoil spring guide rod.

Finally, there is the 1911 Loaded Target in both standard and California-compliant variants. It’s largely the same as the last gun except it uses a long, fully adjustable target sight and has a stainless-steel slide and stainless-steel frame. Most else except the sights and the cocobolo wood grips is stainless, making for a very fetching combination. The gun’s height grows a tad to 5.7” and the weight is 41 ounces. These guns ship with two 9-round magazines.

Springfield Armory 1911s look like classic 1911-A1 models. The 1911-A1s took the original 1911s and added a lowered and beveled ejection port, finger recesses behind the trigger and more.

The Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded series is Made in USA at the company’s Geneseo, Illinois location.
