The Springfield Armory M1A Standard Issue Rifles are chambered .308 Win (7.62x51mm NATO). These semi-autos are civilian legal modern versions of the US Army’s iconic M14 originals that were standard issue from 1959 to 1970.
Springfield debuted its civilian version in 1974. The gun included a fully adjustable for windage and elevation rear sight, a two-stage military trigger, a 10-round detachable box magazine and more! The M1A has a 22” long 6-grove carbon steel barrel that has a 1:11” twist ratio. Total length is 44.33” and the gun weighs 8 pounds 8 ounces with its composite stocks that come in either FDE or matte black and 9 pounds 3 ounces for its beautiful walnut stock.
The front sight is a National Match .062” blade sight paired to a .0690 aperture fully adjustable for windage and elevation military rear sight.
There are three models that differ by stock and then each of those also has a corresponding California-compliant variant. These have the same magazine and everything else except one thing. They have a radial ported muzzle brake instead of the standard model’s long flash suppressor.
Regardless of which stock you choose, you have a nicely curved pistol grip, a thick black buttpad, sling swivels studs in front and back and very functional texturing on the friend the pistol grip.
