The Stoeger Condor is a suite of extremely affordable high value 12-gauge, 20-gauge, 28-gauge and .410 gauge over/under break-open vented rib shotguns imported from Brazil. In all, 20 models cover a wide latitude of finishes, barrel lengths, sights, and more. We’ll look at a few such as the Condor Competition Shotgun and the Condor Field Shotgun.

Condor shotguns are chambered in 2 3/4" for the 28-gauge and both 2 3/4" and 3” for the others. They have elegant accent contours, glossy barrels, a thick buttpad and more.

The finishes vary across the line. The top-end guns have nice Grade-AA gloss-finished walnut. Other finishes include Grade-A satin walnut, black finished walnut and even black synthetic.

Of course, these guns have great features. For instance, the premium Condors have automatic ejectors while on the other end of the line, the Condors have extractors. When you break open the shotgun with extractors, spent casings stay in the gun but are in easy reach. With ejectors, the empty casings fling free. If you’ve fired one barrel and break open the gun, only that spent casing is ejected while the unfired cartridge remains in the gun.

The standard barrel selector integrated into the tang safety allows you to determine which barrel to fire in any order.

In most cases, the top barrel is crested by a vent rib. Exceptions include the Condor Outback Shotgun. Top-end Condors have a mid-rib between the two barrels while on the bottom end, they lack one. However, lacking a mid-rib allows the barrels to cool faster (as there is more surface area), and the barrels can expand and contract independently of one another as well.

Rather than look at all 20 or so models, here are short descriptions of two.

Atop the Stoeger Condor lineup is the nicely balanced, quick-handling Condor Competition Shotgun. This beauty captures the styling and features of over/under shotguns costing much more. It is well-balanced and thus it handles effortlessly. Being the flagship, it features a beautiful AA-grade gloss walnut stock, a gold selective trigger and a high-polish blued receiver.

Aesthetically, all integrate nicely. You can adjust the comb horizontally permitting both right-hand and left-hand use. The stock has a nice feeling pistol grip. The barrels are ported. And the guns have checkering on the forend and on the grip. This Condor comes in 12-gauge and 20-gauge. Both have a 30” barrel and measure 47” overall! Both models have a brass bead sight and two of each of the following chokes: IC, M and F.

On the bottom end of the spectrum is the Condor Field Shotgun 12-gauge 2-3/4" and 3" that has multiple options, but let’s talk about the black synthetic one. It has a 28” barrel and 44” overall length. It weighs 7.3 pounds, comes with IC and M chokes and is fronted by a brass bead sight. Length-of-pull is a comfortable 14 3/8”. The forend and grip both have molded texturing. There is no mid-rib. And the gun has simple shell extractors instead of ejectors.

So there you have it: the Stoeger Condor over/under shotguns feature many combinations of options, gauges, finishes, good quality and more at extraordinarily affordable prices thanks to their Made in Brazil construction.
