Email - Automatic Relist emails and other unwanted emails from Gunbroker.com
(last updated on 5/31/2005 11:26:54 PM)

You may be receiving many emails from Gunbroker - item listing notifications, bidding notifications, or other emails. We are working on a solution for this problem, and you will be able to set your email preferences to disable 'automatic relists' notifications in the near future.

For the moment you can configure your email program to automatically delete emails you receive with specific text in the title that are from Gunbroker.com.

If you use Outlook Express, on the Tools menu there is a selection called Message Rules. Open the Message Rules and click the New button to create a new rule that looks like this (put a checkbox next to all the following options):

:: Where the From line contains people
(in the Rule Description box, click on the highlighted text 'contains people' then enter the text "gunbroker.com" without the quotes)

:: Where the Subject line contains specific words
(in the Rule Description box, click on the highlighted text 'contains specific words' then enter the text "Item Listed -" without the quotes)

:: Delete it

:: Stop processing more rules

You will have to scroll down through the 'Select the Actions for this rule' list in order to find the last 2 actions in the actions list.

Give the rule a name like "Gunbroker listed items" in the box near the bottom of the window, then click OK to save the rule.

What this rule will do is automatically Delete emails you receive that contain the text "Item Listed -" in the subject and are from gunbroker.com. These deleted emails are moved into your Deleted Items email folder, so each time you receive Gunbroker emails you should look through your Deleted Items folder and make sure it did not delete any emails that you may have wanted.

If you want to keep any emails that it has deleted and placed in the Deleted Items box, just drag and drop the emails back into your Inbox folder, or right click on the email and select the menu item Move to Folder.. to move the email back into any folder in your Inbox.

If you do not use Outlook Express, or you use some other type of email service, they also have ways of creating rules like these to automatically Delete or move emails into a different folder. Check your email program or service for more information on setting up Email Rules or Email Filters.
