The Thompson Center T/C Compass II rifle takes the original first generation T/C Compass and enhances it with Thompson/Center’s Generation II trigger system. You can get it chambered in .243 Winchester, .308 Winchester, .223 Rem/5.56x45mm, 6.5 Creedmore, .270 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, .300 Winchester Magnum, and 7mm Remington Magnum. All come standard with blued barrel, matte black synthetic stock and have a 13.25” length of pull.

The various calibers group into Magnum and standard. Magnum guns have 24” long barrels and are 4+1 capacity. They are 44” overall and weigh 7.5 pounds.

The rest are 5+1 capacity and have 21.625” 5R barrels. These then have two subgroups: .243 Winchester, .308 Winchester, .223 Rem/5.56x45mm and 6.5 Creedmore are 41” long overall and weigh 7 pounds. The .270 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield are 41.5” overall and weigh 7.25 pounds.

Except the 223/5.56 and 7mm Remington Magnum, all are also available with a Crimson Trace scope package that includes a multi-coated weather-resistant 3-9x40 variable power Crimson Trace scope, scope mounts and the scope bases. The scope has capped turrets and a black satin anodized tube.

The Compass II series is feature-laden and affordable, which makes it a great value, but it still has guaranteed 1 MOA accuracy at 100 yards with premium ammo. It has nice texturing on the forend and grip. The buttstock is backed up with a nice thick black recoil mitigating recoil pad and there are two swivel studs.

The gun has a T/C match-grade 5R rifled barrel. This tube is fronted by a 1/2"-28 or 5/8”-24 UNEF (Unified National Extra Fine) screw thread making it compatible with muzzle brakes, suppressors and compensators.

The bolt has a 3-lug design for quick, fast and secure locks. The correspondingly short 60-degree throws give the bolt handle plenty of clearance from the mounted scope and fast cycles for follow up shots. Moving below, the T/C Generation II trigger has 3 to 4 pounds of pull.

The gun has a 3-position safety for fire, locked and load/unload modes. The safety is designed for both tactile and visual confirmations of the gun’s current status.

The T/C Compass II comes standard with a 5-round detachable polymer rotary magazine for standard calibers and 4-round magazine for Magnum calibers. Regardless of capacity, polymer construction makes the magazine rustproof but durable.
