The .50 cal single-shot Thompson Center Impact muzzle loading rifle is aptly named. T/C offers a quintet of affordable options. Except color and/or one or two other minor attributes, all are the same.

The standard model has a blued finish over the metal parts, and these are mated to a black composite stock. On top you’ll find adjustable metal sights with fiber optic inserts. The stock is slim, cut-back as much as seems possible, with interesting tear-drop recesses on the forend and larger ones on the stock behind the curved pistol grip. These guns have a break open sliding hood design that makes them right-hand and left-hand friendly.

The center of each gun is a 1:28” twist ratio 26” long barrel with a hand-removable triple lead thread speech breech in back. The stock’s length of pull is 13”, but it also comes with a 1” removable spacer so you can adjust for different clothing and/or weather. This gives the stock a 13” to 14” length of pull. The gun’s overall length is 40”, and it weighs 6.95 pounds.

The gun comes standard with an aluminum Power Rod. This cleverly designed rod has a 5.5” telescoping section so you can open the breech plug and clean straight through. Ignition is 209 primer. And these .50 cals use T/C’s Accurizor quick load system.

The other four models include Realtree Edge, Mossy Oak Break-Up Country and Mossy Oak Bottomland camo choices and an all-black model that has a corrosion-resistant silver Weather Shield finish on the barrel. The Realtree Edge and Mossy Oak Break-Up Country have the same barrel finish while the Mossy Oak Bottomland has the blued barrel.
