Uberti History

Aldo Uberti founded his company in 1959 with the goal of recapturing the spirit of the Old West – the Old American West. With an interest in guns from the Old West and Civil War eras of American history Uberti set up shop at the foot of the Italian Alps and set about recreating black powder revolvers, lever action rifles and other designs from Remington and Winchester. When Colt stopped making their Single Action Army revolvers (also called “Peacemaker”) movie directors were left without a source of these iconic guns. Italian director Sergio Leone consulted with Uberti to find and craft reproductions of the Old West guns he would need for such films as A Fistful of Dollars (1964) and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966). His films would later be known as the popular “spaghetti westerns” of the 1960s, putting Clint Eastwood on the map and bringing fresh interest to the guns of the Old West.

Today Uberti continues to craft modern replicas of six-shooters, big game rifles and more. With precision machining and modern equipment these replicas are produced by today’s standards making them even more reliable and safe than the originals, while maintaining quintessential design details. Popular with Cowboy Action Shooting enthusiasts, Civil War reenactment troupes, history buffs and antique gun lovers, Uberti firearms continue to impress.
