The double-action 9 mm Luger Walther Creed is a matte black striker-fired semi-automatic pistol engineered for concealed carry. Though its aggressive high-tech attributes and blued finish gives it a “hewn from a rock” aesthetic, it’s designed around a polymer frame and a 16-round double-stack magazine housing. This affordable gun debuted in 2016 and is greatly appreciated for being well balanced from seemingly every aspect: price, features, dimensions, capacity and performance.

Some key metrics: the barrel is 4” long. The overall length is 7.3”. The gun is 5.6” tall and 1.4” wide. Weight comes in at 26.6 ounces or 1.6 pounds.

Set into the top of the slide are the three white dot steel sights. In between the two is a relatively long 6.3” sight radius. The rear sight can be adjusted for windage. The front sight can’t be adjusted, but elevation is set by swapping front sights out with other front sights. Each has a specific height denoted by its number.

Also, up on the slide is a loaded chamber viewport. Additionally, the gun has a firing pin block / drop safety.

Let’s talk ergonomics and aesthetics. The slide is gently faceted along the top and front while the back is curved in both X and Y axes. The Creed has diagonal serrations at both front and back, but there is a gentle forward bow to them that makes them stand out a bit.

Both the triangular take down lever and slide stop are on the left, and both have serrated surfaces for enhanced ergonomics and feel.

Trigger pull weight is factory set to 6.4 pounds. The trigger guard is a rounded corner rectangle design. Under the recoil spring housing is a two-slot Picatinny rail for lasers and other accessories. The serial number is neatly hidden away in the rail’s negative slot.

The grip has three subtle finger recesses in front, a thick palmswell at back and aggressive quasi-diamond plate texturing all around. A lanyard loop is tucked into the grip’s bottom.

The Creed comes standard with two 16-round magazines that have counting holes. The reversible magazine release can be set to either right-hand or left-hand use. The Walther Creed is Made in Germany.
