The Wilson Combat Paul Howe G19 takes a stock fourth generation (Gen-4) Glock G19 semi-automatic 15 round 9 mm pistol and upgrades it to match-ready state. Wilson Combat, founded by Bill Wilson in 1974 in Berryville, AR, has combined forces with close combat expert and ex-Delta Force member of “Black Hawk Down” fame Master Sgt. Paul Howe for this upgrade.

This G19 adds numerous improvements atop Glock’s legendary reliability. And it delivers limited edition exclusivity in a portable conceal carry package to handle seemingly any task that would be demanded of any pistol, including close quarter defense, precision match shooting, etc.

Starting with a brand new donor Glock 19, Wilson Combat adds several limited edition features. Perhaps most notably, it replaces the stock barrel with a thicker, match quality, Full Fit Wilson Combat Barrel that has to be hand-installed by in-house gunsmiths.

It replaces the stock sights with a green outline AmeriGlo Tritium sight in front and, at rear, the simple black Wilson Combat Square Notch Battlesight. In between are five long, wide, perfectly straight groove serrations interrupted only by the gun’s ejection port. Strictly speaking, they’re for anti-glare, but additionally, they add something special to the stock G19’s all-business looks.

The biggest aesthetic difference are starburst radian grip panels and matching thumb rests. The backstrap integrates an elegant beavertail and adds grace to what could have been rather stubby proportions often seen in guns in this class. Additionally, the beavertail adds comfort and additional control over the pistol’s already short recoil and three finger grooves for faster follow-up shots and improved accuracy.

An extended backstrap pin helps the backstrap withstand more use to keep it in place better and longer. The trigger has been tuned down from the stock’s 5.5 pound pull to only 4.5 pounds while the trigger guard bottom has been strategically tapered for a more comfortable grip. The sum of these various changes is greater than the parts, resulting in a very satisfying packages.
