The Wilson Combat/Beretta Centurion Tactical is a conversion package. It starts with a stock Beretta 92G semi-automatic 9 mm double-action/single-action pistol made by Beretta in northern Italy to Wilson Combat’s specifications. This gets shipped to Wilson Combat in Arkansas for additional changes and additions followed by a final quality inspection. Note: the “G” in 92G means it eschews a manual safety in favor of a decocker.

Wilson Combat, founded by Bill Wilson in 1974 in Berryville, AR, has been in business there ever since. Four decades of customization have given it unprecedented skill in taking weapons from various manufacturers and upgrading them with improved components. Some of these components, such as Tritium gun sights, are incorporated frequently, giving Wilson Combat a wealth of experience, quasi-mass production quality and perhaps even some cost reduction.

Back to the Wilson Combat/Beretta Centurion Tactical. Here are some key specifications. The barrel is 4.3” leading to an overall length of 7.75”. The shorter slide leads to a shorter sight radius that’s 5.75”. The gun’s height is 5.5” and the width is a fairly prominent 1.5”. Empty weight including a 17 round magazine is 33.2 ounces or just over two pounds.

Standard sights have been upgraded to a U-notch rear serrated sight and an orange dot Tritium front sight.

Other key changes include mating the existing barrel with Beretta’s shorter Vertec slide and smaller M9A1 frame. New G-10 advanced polymer grip panels with prominent Wilson Combat logos improve feel. The trigger guard is rounded instead of knuckled.

The weight of the trigger has been reduced. The result is an impressive semi-automatic with remarkably light, crisp and consistent pulls.

The gun also features an oversized mag well, two 17 round magazines and one extended 20 round magazine! Inexplicably, the 17 round magazines are glossy while the 20 round mag is matte.

Checkered magazine release improves tactile feel. And the magazine guide at the bottom makes for faster and more accurate magazine swaps and improves aesthetics.
