Mike Fifer has been Ruger’s CEO since September 25, 2006 and next month he will be retiring. Since joining Ruger he has lead the company in many corporate and industry changing initiatives – including the Million Gun Challenge, the 2 Million Gun Challenge, the Protect Your Rights Campaign, the expansion of production facilities and significant releases of many new product platforms. We are auctioning off a .375 Ruger caliber Ruger® Guide Gun. This is the last of three hunting rifles previously owned by Ruger CEO Mike Fifer. The serial number is 711-56128, and the testfire date is June 13, 2012. Mike headed up to Yakutat, Alaska with his daughter Katie in late August 2012 for two weeks of brown bear hunting on the streams of the Glacier Bay National Park Preserve. They stayed with hosts Gary and Ginger Gray on the Alsek River. Their adventure was videoed by Ted Miller for The World of Sports Afield TV show and has been documented in a photo book created by Fifer. An autographed copy of this book will be included with the auction rifle, along with the same Trijicon AccuPoint® scope used during the bear hunt. This rifle features a 20 inch hammer-forged barrel, with the Ruger® Muzzle Brake System, and white bead front sight. The rear sight is missing from this rifle. Other features include: the LC6™ trigger; non-rotating, Mauser-type controlled round feed extractor; patented integral scope mounts; and three-position safety. It has a matte stainless finish with a black laminate stock featuring wrap-around cut checkering on the forearm and pistol grip. The stock also features a soft rubber buttpad with buttpad spacers. Please see additional images found on the Ruger website as this rifle has scratches in the stock, floor plate, and barrel. Mike also wrote in black marker on the barrel, above the caliber mark, “Mike’s rifle.” The Ruger® Guide Gun is being sold “as is.” The purchaser assumes all liability for its safe and proper ownership, storage, use, and resale. It is a part of the Ruger factory collection in Southport, Connecticut and a Certificate of Authenticity will be mailed to the winner of the auction.
