A used Colt Service Model Ace that remains in excellent condition. Manufactured in early 1980 according to the table in Colt - An American Legend.

Though the gun has been fired, it's spotless inside and out and has no major detractions. The finish on the frame remains close to 100%. The bottom edges surrounding the magazine well show minor wear. See photo 39, for example. The finish on the slide shows just some thinning on the edges, and mainly near the muzzle, as if from holstering. Note that what might appear to be finish missing in some photos is reflected light. I'd estimate the loss of finish on the slide at well under 1%. I have to say this because someone always mistakes a reflection for bare metal and writes to ask about what would be a glaring defect they think they see in a photo. Feel free to ask if you're not sure. But the written description is accurate. There are no scratches, not even the usual micro scratches from handling, and no marks, scars or other defects. The blued finish on the barrel is worn where it contacts the bushing.

The left side of the hammer has a mark where it contacts the slide, as shown in photo 68. The steel trigger has two tiny circular marks on the left side left by the set screws on a trigger shoe. They're barely visible in photo 30. See the photos.

These .22s are often found quite dirty inside, with lead accumulated on the floating chamber. This one is spotless, no traces of lead or firing residue. You are not buying a weekend cleaning project. The gun is clean inside and out.

The grips remain as-new, with no chips or marks or depressions to the checkering. The grip screws are excellent. Close inspection shows that they have been removed and are therefore no longer perfect. But not buggered up or ugly.

The bore remains as-new, clean and with no visible problems.

Comes with the magazine shown, which I believe is the style that would have been shipped with this gun in 1980. The magazine is in about new condition, with minimal finish wear. If you wanted extra magazines of this type, let me know.

Overall, an attractive and very presentable Service Ace. It certainly remains in nice enough condition to go in a collection but could also be fired if you were so inclined.

I'm selling this on consignment and have not shot it myself.

NOTE that this firearm may not be sold in California except to LE. HOWEVER, it may be sold by consignment if your dealer is willing to handle a consignment sale. If you are unfamiliar with the process, send me a note.

The buyer pays only the actual shipping and insurance cost, no "handling" fees. Should be about $20 or less depending on your ZIP code.

I must collect sales tax or a resale certificate from California buyers.

A personal check is OK if you don't mind waiting ten banking days before shipment. If you're in a hurry, use a money order or bank check.

E-mail if you have any questions. Note that I can't access my e-mail every day, so don't despair if I don't answer right away.
