This auction is for the Winchester Model 70 Varmint rifle shown. Caliber is .220 Swift. The Model 70 Varmint is a pre-1964 bolt action rifle with a 26" heavy stainless barrel. The S/N is 462795 indicating that it was made in 1959. Only 900 Varminters were made in .220 Swift between 1956 and 1963. The bolt is numbered to the receiver. The overall condition is very good. The blued metal finish shows some light edge wear and some light scratching here and there. The original checkered walnut stock is very good with some minor marks from use. The black plastic butt plate does not fit perfectly well and is most likely a replacement. The bore is clean with strong rifling and the action seems excellent. Overall, a very nice Pre-64 Model 70 Varmint rifle with the scarce stainless steel barrel. C&R OK. NO RESERVE!! Thanks for looking.
