USFA Pre-War Model, 7-1/2 Inch Barrel, .45 Colt, Cross-Pin Frame, Factory 2-Piece Aged Tru Ivory Grips

This is USFA’s premium finished single action revolver with a 7-1/2 inch barrel in .45 Colt caliber and with a special serial number, 5183.

This is a NIB single action that has not been fired, with the factory box, cardboard sleeve, cotton bag and literature. The hammer is tie-wrapped with a flexible, ladder-type nylon tie wrap so the hammer cannot be cocked and the cylinder cannot be rotated.

This single action revolver was made in approximately 2006 with 100% USA made parts and components.

This revolver weighs 39.8 ounces on a digital postal scale.

All of the screws, cylinder pin, cross-pin, ejector rod head and the trigger are beautifully factory niter blued.

There is one small spot on the bluing, about the size of a pin head, on the bottom of the backstrap, opposite the serial number. It is visible in the photograph showing the bottom of the Tru Ivory grips and backstrap.

It includes a beveled cylinder and a hand checkered hammer. The serial number is hand stamped using a vintage font on the frame, trigger guard and backstrap.

The cross-pin frame style includes a spring loaded cross-pin to hold the cylinder pin. The ejector rod head is crescent shaped consistent with the cross-pin frame.

A three line patent date is roll engraved on the left side of the frame and the sights include a square notch rear and square front blade. The loading gate has a stamped assembly number, 338. The one-line USFA barrel address on top of the barrel is correct for the longer 7-1/2 inch barrel.

The “Old Armory Bone Case” color case hardening finish was completed by Turnbull Restoration & Manufacturing and includes the frame, loading gate and hammer. The “Armory Blue” bluing finish duplicates the finish Colt used on their SAA revolvers before 1900. This is not USFA’s Salt Bath Finish - Dome Blue™, blue-black color bluing, as used on USFA’s Single Action models. Armory Blue™ is a genuine pre-1900 finish used by Colt and Winchester and is accomplished through the use of sterile steel parts heated in a forge with a special oil vapor. Although more costly, Armory Blue™ provides a correct vintage finish and it is also the most durable blue finish.

The upgraded factory grips are perfectly fitted 2-piece aged Tru Ivory stocks. There are three shades of Tru Ivory grips; Tru Ivory, Tru Ivory Aged and Tru Ivory Antique. These grips are the medium shade color.

This is an outstanding fit and finished 7-1/2 inch barrel single action revolver and it is on a par with the USFA Government Inspector Series revolvers.

The revolver will ship in a new, heavy-duty pistol rug to your FFL from my FFL transfer agent via FedEx 2-Day Air, fully insured, while the factory box and contents will be shipped directly to your home address via USPS Priority Mail.
