Fabulous relief carved Kentucky rifle by Abraham Schweitzer. Beautifully engraved four-piece patchbox, toe plate, and side plate. Awesome period wrist strap repair, converted from flintlock. May not be the first lock in the gun, but it is a handmade lock. Silver star cheekpiece inlay, silver thumbpiece, fancy forestock moulding. The barrel is 37 5/8" long; it is basically straight 1" across the flats the entire length, except slightly wider at the breech. It is not swamped. It is approx. .45 caliber rifled. Elegant wrist carving and relief around the tang. A couple of repaired or glued cracks including one in the forestock.. Also, replaced wood behind the hammer next to the tang. It's still in its converted percussion format. I have sold and shipped many antique Pennsylvania and Kentucky longrifles successfully over the years. Shipping and insurance to the lower 48 is included in the sale price, but you'll have to return my hard case at your cost (about $35). Alternatively, you can ship me your hard case first and I will use it to ship the gun. Keep in mind that the case must be at least 62" long to safely accommodate this rifle. My descriptions are accurate and I include many detailed photos. Feel free to ask for additional info/photos. I can send you photos with better resolution by email so you can really see the features. Finally, please see my positive feedback here and on ebay under the same username where I sell other antiques, including cars. Checks must clear before I ship. Please keep in mind that since this is an antique muzzleloader, you do NOT need an FFL for me to ship it to you. PLEASE NOTE: I do not recommend firing the antique guns that I sell. If you decide to do so, you do it at your own risk! This includes working the actions (locks, hammers, triggers, etc.) Old guns (pre-1899) have old parts, including old springs and other internals (we are talking about 150+ years old, on average!). These parts can and do break. You are not buying a new gun; this is an antique/collectible and it is catagorized as such on gunbroker for that reason. Thanks. John
