Up for bid is a Sears Model 25 .22 rifle; also known as a High Standard A1041 rifle. On these models the bolt stays open after firing until the trigger is released. After the trigger is released the bolt moves forward to feed the next round. This Model 25 is in “ok to nice” condition and features:

  • 22" Blued Barrel
  • Blued Magazine Tube
  • Blued Receiver
  • Stainless Bolt
  • Stainless Bolt Handle
  • Blued Trigger Guard
  • Walnut Stock
  • Capacity 15+1
  • Synthetic Butt Plate
  • There is a good bit of information in the forums about these guns; the information listed below comes from various sources and “original posters”.

These are also known as "Gill Guns" because of the closely-spaced slots in the left side of the receiver just behind the breech-face. Another characteristic is that they "Click-Clack" because of the sound they make when firing the weapon; the bolt stays to the rear with a "click" when the trigger is held, then slams forward with a "clack" to load the next round when the trigger is released.

These guns are known to be accurate and reliable with decent springs and as with all rimfires it needs to kept clean.

Another feature is the magazine loading port in the mag tube; it is located to the side of the gun instead of at the bottom as on every other 22 tube loader. A very smart High Standard engineer patented the idea to rotate the loading port around by the barrel so that you can load the magazine easier by placing rounds on the gap between the barrel and magazine tube with the rifle tilted butt-down just a little to get the rounds to move backward. They fall right into the magazine tube though the loading port.

The barrel and bore are in ok condition. There is some discoloration on the barrel; I’ve scrubbed with steel wool to clean it as best as possible. I can provide more pictures if you’d like to vette further. I’ve waxed and polished the stock and the wood is very nice indeed.

Using the iron sights I've been pinging my spinner and bell targets at approximately 25-30 yards. This rifle does fine with High Velocity Shorts, Standard Velocity, and High Velocity ammunition and all of it cycles great. I can promise you will be happy with the performance of this gun. The capacity when shooting the HV shorts is 23 (22+1), and 16 (15+1) when shooting the standard size .22 ammunition.

I’ve cleaned the gun with Gun-scrubber, inspected the springs and buffer, and lightly oiled the appropriate internal springs and promise the firearm is in good working condition. There is not a serial number but based upon research/reading this Model was manufactured in 1963-1967.

Make sure it's legal in your jurisdiction before you bid. It is the buyer's responsibility to make sure that the gun they purchase is legal in their state. This firearm must ship to a FFL-please make sure that your chosen FFL can accept shipments from an individual seller; if I need to use a FFL to ship to you there will be an additional $25 charge. Please no sales to any state where purchase of this firearm is prohibited by law. No sales to Alaska/Hawaii.

I can provide more pictures or answer any additional questions you may have. I'm a "working stiff" but promise to get it shipped out quickly once I receive your payment and FFL information. This is a “no reserve” auction and the high bidder wins.

Thanks for taking a look at my firearm and I wish you well in your shopping.
