NO RESERVE! This is a Martini-Enfield MK 1 rifle in .303 British that is receiver dated 1895. These were converted from .450 Martini-Henry rifles. The Artillery and Calvary carbines are more common than the rifles. This rifle has seen a great deal of action. It appears to be a numbers matching original and unmolested gun. The finish is mostly a brown patina with some blue on the barrel and in protected areas. The stock appears to have original finish and has not been sanded or varnished. The cartouches and stampings are well marked on the left side of the stock. It does have many nicks, dings, dents and gouges. There are a couple of slivers off the stock along the barrel, a chip behind the top of the receiver and a chip at the bottom of the buttplate. The bore is dark with strong rifling and frosted pitting. There is some corrosion on the barrel in front of the receiver as pictured. There is no cleaning rod. This rifle comes with a bayonet that is in excellent original condition. The scabbard is very nice and all intact. There are some threads that are deteriorated along the seam but the shape and integrity of the sheath is intact. The blade is 21 1/2" long and bright and shiny with only a few tiny spots of corrosion. The proofs are all as they should be and the number on the blade matches the number on the sheath. Buyer to pay actual shipping. This is an antique rifle and as such, no FFL is required for transfer and in most areas it can be shipped directly to the winning bidder. There are exceptions (New Jersey, New York City, Maryland etc) where an FFL transfer may still be required. Please know your local laws before bidding. Bidder must be a minimum of 21 years old and willing to provide proof of age with payment. Sorry but no sales to California.
