This is a beautiful, all original, unaltered late-production pre-WWII Japanese "Baby Nambu" pistol. It was manufactured by the Tokyo Artillery Arsenal in Koishigawa, Toyko. These Baby Nambus were made there from 1902-1923. There were approximately 5900 made. The serial number on this baby Nambu is "5247". The Baby Nambu was a private purchase pistol. Because they were as expensive as 180 Yen in those days the Baby Nambus were usually carried by high ranking Japanese Army and Navy Officers. This pistol has a high quality rust blue finish and straw colored trigger, magazine release, sear pivot pin and bolt lock with a bright finished bolt, with checkered mahogany grips. The magazine has a nickel-plated body with an aluminum base. The top of the chamber area bears the four intertwined cannon balls of the Tokyo Arsenal and the right side of the receiver has the Japanese Kana markings over the serial number "5247". The matching serial numbers are also visible on the underside of the bolt, the back side of the cocking knob and on the inside of each grip panel. The magazine is an original but has non matching serial number "5767" on the spine. The "Baby" Nambu is perhaps the most desirable WWII Japanese semi-automatic pistol. Excellent with 90-95% plus of the original blue finish overall with very minor oxidation on left guide rod guide shroud, front of trigger guard and front of safety button. A super nice all original Japanese Baby Nambu. This item will be carefully packaged and insured for the selling price. This firearm is considered a “Curio & Relic” by the BATF and can ship two ways.
