Here is a Mark IV Series 80 two tone “Pinto” up for consideration. Just as she left the factory in Hartford, so shall she come to the winning bidder. This pristine example is just about “As New” in the factory box. Box includes all the issued paperwork and manual. This example represents a limited production frame / barrel arrangement. She has the Colt factory blue finish and the Colt factory appointed stainless steel slide. Serial number is: 65330B70. She is believed to be manufactured in the mid 1980’s. The bore is factory crisp and all mechanical actions are exact. Finish quality is near perfect and the grips appear new as well. She is chambered for .45 ACP cartridges and features the standard 5” barrel. We have attached multiple Hi-Definition photographs in various lighting conditions for your consideration. She comes as photographed.
The Colt 1911 Government Model was designed when the Wright Brothers were still building bicycles in Ohio. From manned missions to the moon in the late 60s to the state of the art jets ripping up the skies today, the Colt 1911 Government Model has changed very little comparatively since its inception. John Moses Browning… thy will be done.

Colt MKIV Series 80 Government Model 1911 History

Designed by John Browning, the M1911 is the best-known of his designs to use the short recoil principle in its basic design. The pistol was widely copied, and this operating system rose to become the preeminent type of the 20th century and of nearly all modern centerfire pistols. It is popular with civilian shooters in competitive events such as USPSA, IDPA, International Practical Shooting Confederation, and Bullseye shooting. Compact variants are popular civilian concealed carry weapons in the U.S. because of the design's relatively slim width and stopping power of the .45 ACP cartridge.
The MK IV Series 80 Colt Government Model 1911 was introduced in 1983 by Colt’s Manufacturing Company. The main difference between this guns and the previous Colt Series 70 is that the former incorporate a new firing pin block safety system, consisting of a series of internal levers and a plunger positively blocking the firing pin from moving until the trigger is pressed, hence eliminating the possibility of the gun going off if dropped onto a hard surface or struck hard. Other than that, the Colt series 70 and the 80 series do not differ too much from one another. On the other hand, there is really no difference between the Colt 1911 series 80 and the M1991A1, which is mechanically the same as the the original Colt 1911 design.
