US Springfield Armory 1903 30-06 battle rifle with original CMP certificate, CMP manual and original shipping box. This one was sold from the CMP in 2002. A “low number” receiver with serial number in the 672 thousand range made in 1917. This one was rebuilt during WW2 by RIA as evidenced by the RIA/EB stamp on left side of stock. Barrel is marked HS 10-44 (High Standard replacement barrel) with an ME of 2.5. Bore is fair to good with some pitting about halfway down the bore. This one is still packed in the long term storage grease. Bolt is also a low number bolt with straight handle. Stock is WW2 Remington with nice FJA and other inspector markings. A mix of parts from WW1 all the way through WW2, these were the work horse of the infantry until 1938 as they were slowly replaced by the M1 Garand. This being a low number receiver should be considered a collector item not to be fired. Excerpts from the CMP website on these rifles below. Offered with no reserve!

CMP DOES NOT RECOMMEND FIRING ANY SPRINGFIELD RIFLE WITH A ”LOW NUMBER” RECEIVER. SUCH RIFLES SHOULD BE REGARDED AS COLLECTOR’S ITEMS, NOT “SHOOTERS”. CMP ALSO DOES NOT RECOMMEND FIRING ANY SPRINGFIELD RIFLE, REGARDLESS OF SERIAL NUMBER, WITH A SINGLE HEAT-TREATED “LOW NUMBER” BOLT. SUCH BOLTS, WHILE HISTORICALLY CORRECT FOR DISPLAY WITH A RIFLE OF WWI OR EARLIER VINTAGE, MAY BE DANGEROUS TO USE FOR SHOOTING. THE UNITED STATES ARMY GENERALLY DID NOT SERIALIZE BOLTS. DO NOT RELY ON ANY SERIAL NUMBER APPEARING ON A BOLT TO DETERMINE WHETHER SUCH BOLT IS “HIGH NUMBER” OR “LOW NUMBER”.

TERMS:

Buyer is responsible for mailing/e-mailing FFL or C&R (if eligible) prior to shipment along with any required local paperwork (CA: COE for C&R, FOID for IL C&R etc.). Antiques (pre 1898) only require proof of age (driver’s license) unless FFL required by local/state law. FFL may be e-mailed or mailed, sorry no faxes. Antique purchases require proof of age only unless local law requires transfer through an FFL. If you bid and win you are obligated to make contact within five days and payment within 10 days as outlined by Gunbroker. Personal checks may take a few extra days to clear before shipping. Non paying bidders receive appropriate feedback. I visually inspect each item, yet all firearms should be checked by a competent gunsmith prior to firing. I try to describe the major features and flaws in each item, but please review the pictures as well. Three day non-firing inspection with refund minus shipping. Your bid acknowledges and removes all liability from the seller in the operation or use of the firearm. Please know your local laws prior to bidding and void where prohibited. If GB goes down or is limited in taking bids within 24 hours of close of auction I reserve the right to re-list item. Registered with CA DOJ for firearm transfer, but please check if approved by state of CA prior to bidding (C&R items are exempt from this restriction). Some states like NY, NJ, and CA C&R handguns must be shipped directly 01 dealer as per state laws. Sales only in USA. I ship using FEDEX and USPS. Sorry, no layaway available. I do not end my auctions early. Internet sales only, so no local pickup. However I can arrange for transfer through other local retail FFL’s in the twin cities area if needed (transfer fees may apply). If you are a new user without feedback (NR), please contact me prior to bidding.

Transfer FFL information: I will need a copy of your dealer's FFL license (or Curio & Relic license if the item is eligible). E-mail copy or mailed hardcopy only, sorry no faxes. It's your responsibility to have your dealer contact me with this information, as I cannot contact every buyer and their corresponding dealer for every sale.

NON PAYING BIDDERS: All non paying bidders will receive appropriate feedback (F rating). To avoid negative feedback, a 10% restocking fee will be assessed to cover our time and cost. Please review the description and pictures BEFORE you bid.

The best way to reach us is through e-mail. Credit card payments may be processed directly through Gunbroker's Checkout system which is secure and easy. Feel free to call directly for any reason and we will return your call within 24 hours.
