Penny start and no reserve!! Up for auction is an extremely rare Springfield Armory model 1847 Artillery Model Musketoon short carbine rifle. 100% original low production 69 caliber percussion rifle. 26" smoothbore barrel, 41" overall length, lock markings are the standard “spread winged eagle / US” in front of the hammer and to the rear of the hammer in sharp three lines is “SPRING / FIELD / 1853”. Gun is in great condition with a strong and crisp action. Gun shows normal carry and use marks as pictured but no damage. Stock is solid and has no cracks or breaks. Stock does have a small chip about the size of a dime near the rear if the barrel. This is an extremely rare "Artillery" variant of an already rare Springfield musketoon. This rifle was never converted to a rifled barrel like most and is still smooth bore. Nice inspectors markings on stock including a number "79" on the top of the grip area. Lots of history here and in fantastic collectors grade condition. NO FFL REQUIRED ANTIQUE GUN.-------------Shipping will be $25.00 for FedEx shipping service, local pickup is available.
