This auction is for a US Navy contract Model 1867 single shot Rolling Block Pistol in caliber .50 center fire. 7" round barrel with walnut grips and fore-end. Top of barrel is marked with an Anchor. Right side of the frame is marked "P" "F.C.W." denoting this was viewed by Naval Inspector Frank C. Warner. Left side of frame marked "REMINGTON'S ILION N.Y. U.S.A." "PAT MAY 3D NOV 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH 1866". For a naval pistol that served aboard a warship at sea most likely for voyages that lasted many months to even years, the metal has survived in very nice shape with no signs of pitting or frosting from salty air. Breech still shows original straw colored temper as does the link plate between the breech pins. Overall, it shows a fair number of small superficial nicks and scratches from handling. The wood shows it's age with a chip out, and several hairline cracks. Wood shows lots of wear and and typical handling marks associated with military usage. Action is crisp and works very well. Bore is fairly good considering, there is some nice rifling and very minor pitting. A scarce US Navy pistol in outstanding condition for it's age. This is one that can only go up in value with time. This pistol does classify as an antique, meaning it will ship to your door signature required. Please see pictures for further details.

A customer commented this.. "Take a look at page 102 of " Remington Rolling Block Pistols " by Landskron. You will see that your pistol is a model of 1870. The earlier ones had different trigger guards or no trigger guard. Also, the fore end is not original." Just wanted to add it to the description.
