If this little guy could talk, it would tell tales of shooting rats at the dump, defending the homestead from a copperhead, a first rabbit or dove kill for dinner, or who knows what. This little gem is a Winchester model 36. As far as I know, it’s the only American made shotgun in 9mm Flobert (rimfire).

These guns were made from about 1919 to about 1926 and only about 20,000 were made. The same type of gun is still (relatively) popular in Europe and ammunition is readily available.

Originally marketed as a “garden gun” it was for snakes and varmints in the “garden”. Due to its diminutive size and limited recoil (my 6 yr old grandson can shoot it without a flinch) it was popular as a “kid’s gun”.

• LOP = 13.5 in
• OAL = 33.5 in
• Wt = 2.75 lbs
• Last patent date August 29 1899
• Butt plate is “checkered” and says WINCHESTER TRADE MARK and has a star in a circle in the middle of the text

Condition: shows some wear. Stock has a crack above wrist on left side – see picture. Crack does not affect usability. Right side of stock was partially checkered at the wrist, the left side was left intact. Metal shows some dings and minor scratches and light bluing in spots. I believe there is supposed to be an escutcheon in the stock-to-metal screw hole, but it is gone. Bore is smooth and dark. I knew a girl like that once… Other than that the gun appears to be complete and functional.

Ask questions before bidding. The pictures tell the story.
