Here is a Colt Model 1860 Army Richards Conversion. It is a six shot single action revolver in .44 caliber. It was one of 9000 converted between 1873 and 1878 with the serial number being 171XXX, it has all matching numbers including the cylinder. The brass trigger guard is marked 44 Cal, the frame is marked Colt's Patent. The barrel is marked "Address Col. Saml Colt New-York U.S. America" The bore of the 8" barrel is frosty, minor pitting, lots of rifling. It is tight and correct, minor pitting on the outside. No FFL needed with this antique. I was informed by one of the good guys out there that this gun is most likely a period imitation and not a Richards conversion. The firing pin is in the frame.

Another bit of information from another good guy out there is that the first model had a re-bond firing pin. The second model had the hammer pin through the frame. He was not aware of any copies that had been made.
