Very good condition WWI British No. I MK III SMLE Enfield rifle in .303 British caliber. Manufactured by B.S.A.Co. (Birmingham Small Arms Company) in 1915, as marked on the right side of the butt socket. Barrel is also dated 1915. Rifle was issued to Indian forces, as evidenced by the distinctive added “Indian screw” on the forend. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the rear sight, including receiver, barrel, bolt, and nosecap. Receiver and barrel are marked “EY” for Emergency Use. Rifle still has original working magazine cutoff. Metal finish is original arsenal blue showing some normal wear. Bore is very good with strong rifling and light pitting. Stock has original arsenal finish and shows some normal handling marks. A nice early WWI SMLE for your collection.
