About very good condition WWII Japanese Type 99 Arisaka rifle in 7.7mm caliber that has a full untouched mum on the receiver and was manufactured as part of the 35th Series by Toyo Kogyo. Rifle is NOT import marked and has matching serial numbers on the receiver, bolt body, and extractor. Safety does not match. Rifle has correct late war features including short handguard, simple peep rear sight, riveted front band, separate “trapped” forend, and wooden buttplate. Metal finish has mostly brown and gray color. Barrel has some wrench markings behind the rear sight. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Underside of buttstock has two small sharp clear kanji character inspector proof marks. Right side buttstock has white painted Japanese kanji character and “4/3”, probably indicating Japanese Navy use. A good example of T-99 with mum and naval markings.
