THIS MODEL WAS WAS INTRODUCED IN 1915 AND PRODUCED UNTIL 1937, BUT INVENTORY UNTIL 1941. THIS MODEL IS SERIAL NUMBERED WITHIN THE .44 HAND EJECTOR "N" FRAME SERIAL NUMBER SERIES. ALTHOUGH THE .44 HAND EJECTOR WAS INTRODUCED IN 1915 VERY FEW WERE SOLD UNTIL 1920 AS THE FACTORY HAND BEGUN PRODUCTION OF REVOLVERS FOR WORLD WAR I. THE TOTAL PRODUCTION OF THIS MODEL IS 17510 UNITS. THE.44 HAND EJECTOR SECOND MODEL WAS MANUFACTURED IN BOTH BLUE AND NICKEL FINISH AND COULD BE PURCHASED WITH A 4", 5", 6 1/2" BARREL. THIS REVOLVER WAS CHAMBERED FOR THE .44 S&W SPECIAL CARTRIDGE. IT WAS ALSO PRODUCED IN LIMITED QUANTITIES IN .38/40, .44/40 AND .45 COLT CALIBERS. WE HAVE RESEARCHED YOUR SMITH & WESSON .44 HAND EJECTOR SECOND MODEL, CALIBER .44 S&W SPECIAL, REVOLVER IN COMPANY RECORDS WITH INDICATED THAT YOUR HANDGUN, WITH THE BUTT SERIAL NUMBER 20845 WAS SHIPPED FROM OUR FACTORY ON SEPTEMBER 11, 1923, AND DELIVERED TO MOMSEN-DONNEGAN-RYAN CO., EL PASO, TX. THE RECORDS INDICATE THAT THIS REVOLVER WAS SHIPPED WITH A 5 INCH BARREL, BLUE FINISH, BUTT SWIVEL , AND CHECKERED WALNUN NON-MEDALLION GRIPS. THIS WAS A SINGLE GUN SHIPMENT THE ENGRAVING APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN DONE BY S&W ENGRAVER HARRY JARVIS, BUT THERE IS NO INVOICE ON THE SALE TO VERIFY HOW IT WAS SHIPPED. THE B UNDER THE BARREL, BY THE SERIAL NUMBER, INDICATES THAT THE REVOLVER INDICATES THAT THE REVOLVER WAS ORGINALLY A BLUE REVOLVER. THE GRIPS ARE AFTERMARKET GRIPS.
