DA-019-G (11238)-EBC- REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK MILITARY RIFLE, made under a foreign contractor, thus the Remington patent dates were omitted entirely. The only maker’s markings appear stamped on the breechblock and on the receiver (see photo,) Dated 1882, with a 3-digit serial number that appears only on barrel (502) and on butt stock (502 and N” 5724). The rear sight might identify it, but we have not seen this sight style anywhere else. And the butt plate is also of a unique design. Rather than guess about it. We note an improved design in the barrel ban keepers. The rest is typical foreign contract. Barrel length is 37”, overall length 52”. All nice and functional, with a beautiful bright rifled bore in .43 caliber (11MM). Steel cleaning rod and both sling swivels intact, fully working long-range rear sight of unique design. All sound, complete, with smooth brown patina surfaces. This model took a steel socket bayonet (not included.) If anyone out there knows any details on this unusual contract, we’d like to hear from you. Very well made. All original, as is. A very serviceable rifle, whomever made it. SAFETY NOTICE: We do not sell firearms, only collectible antiques, if you shoot them it is at your own risk and we are not liable for anything you do.
