DA-0012-J-(11429)-JF- 18th Century Indo-Persian Battle Axe, a very medieval-looking weapon of fine craftsmanship with a carved and decorated native wood shaft of 20” long, with a steel butt-spike of 5 ½”,sharpened, for puncturing helmets and body armor, and a heavy axe head socketed at the other end of 5 ¼” long (with brass inlaid décor.) A metal cap on top presents a mystery, as its purpose is unknown. Probably for a spike point, but that’s only a guess. Shows great age, overall length 26 ¼”. In hand to hand combat, among his belt weapons, the warrior inevitably carried at least one battle axe. This is NOT tourist variety wall decoration; this is a genuine warrior’s weapon of the age. All original, as-is.
