INCREDIBLE Engraved COLONIAL Flintlock Pistol 1700

Tribal Depiction During Colonial & Piracy Apex

Here we present an antique Colonial Flintlock Pistol, made circa 1700. Belt-sized pistols like these were used to defend oneself when traveling or in public places. It was big enough to fight with, but not so large as to be cumbersome. They could be both as handsome or as plain as one desired or could afford.

This specimen is simply incredible in its ornate details. The barrel is entirely chisel engraved on top with colonial motifs. It is essentially a high relief work of art on a handgun. There are depicted three tribal people, as well as an exotic bird. The figures are somewhat abstractly, perhaps even primitively, imagined, but the engraving is excellently and artistically accomplished. The lock has also been engraved. The wood stock is profusely wire inlaid. The brass pommel is also decorated. Likely, this flintlock pistol was made in Europe and found its way to colonial holdings, where an indigenous craftsman embellished it. One can certainly imagine that this once belonged to a pirate.

This would make an incredible addition to any collection.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 9 inches in length.
