Two Arnachellum & Sons Knives with Sheaths Estimated Price: $950 - $1,600 Serial # Two Arnachellum & Sons Knives with Sheaths Manufacturer None Model None Type Other Gauge Catalog Page 56 Barrel Finish Grip Stock Class Other Rating See Condition Description Active in the mid to late 1800s in the City of Salem, Tamil Nadu, India, Arnachellum was considered a top producer of knives for the Indian market, as well as overseas travelers. 1) Bowie Knife, 9 5/8 inch blade with "ARNACHELLUM & SONS/SALEM" on the left side near the guard. Dual quillion steel guard, with a lightly curved stag horn grip and a metal pommel cap. With a brown leather covered sheath. 2) Knife, 7 1/4 inch blade with sharpened false edge and no visible makers marks. Hilt and sheath similar to #1, with a riveted pommel and a retention clip on the sheath.

HERE IS ANOTHER ONE I FOUND AND IT SAID THE MAKER IS A FAMOUS INDIA CUTLERY MAKER AND THESE WERE MADE FOR THE BRITISH FOR HUNTING LIONS..... M5-185 LARGE BOWIE KNIFE BY ARNACHELLUM SALEM Item # M5-185 M5-185 LARGE BOWIE KNIFE BY ARNACHELLUM SALEM Indian Spear Point Bowie knife from the mid to late 19th century with 9" blade marked "ARNACHELLUM SALEM". 14 inches over all. Sambar Stag Horn handle. The scabbard is original and is worn leather covered wood with a steel retaining clip. The knife was made by the famous Indian Cutler, Arnachellum who lived in Salem India. Arnachellum was famous throughout India for his knifes and spear heads. These are tiger hunting knives, made for the Brits while occupying India. Returned to England and then made their way to the states. The blade is very sharp. This bowie knife is in good condition and looks like it has a story to tell.
