This is an original Civil War era sword, complete with the original scabbard. This sword is in excellent original condition. There is some normal aging wear throughout but as far as swords from the 1800s go, this is excellent. The leather piece is still in tact at the base of the blade. The blade is marked "N. STARR" as well as "US" and "L.S.V". There is minimal wear on the blade, only some minor discoloration. There are no signs of sharpening. The scabbard is in good shape as well. Guaranteed original and authentic.
