Rare Boss Single Shot Blank Deringer Pistol, great working action, Invented by L. Holt & J.C. Marshall, Springfield, Mass. Manufactured by Dexter Smith (Son of Horace Smith of S&W). Distributed by Buckland Brothers, wholesale jewelers of Springfield, c. 1870's. Formerly believed to have been made by Hopkins & Allen. Quantity unknown; likely few hundred; quite scarce. Patented April 22,1873. Although intended strictly as a .22 Rimfire blank noise-maker pistol, it does accept a .22 Short Cartridge and likely would be quite dangerous if fired as barrel is much larger smooth bore caliber. Extremely simple mechanism, hammer and trigger one piece. Nickname, with others of their type, "Fourth of July pistol". See Flaydermans 8A-030.5. Condition is good to very good with some pitting and corrosion, grips good with some small losses around screw hole, good markings. See photos for further details, clarification, and condition. No FFL Required. Sold as a collector piece, not considered or intended safe to shoot. VISIT US AT TRWEST.NET
