A nice antique J.M. Cooper Percussion Pocket Revolver in 36 caliber. All serial numbers #3307 are matching on the barrel, frame, cylinder, and grip strap. It closely resembles the Colt Model 1849 Pocket.

It has a 6-inch octagon barrel, brass bead front sight, and good bore. The barrel is well marked on top "COOPER FIREARMS MFG Co FRANKFORD PHILA PA" along with patent dates.

Revolver has the brass trigger guard and back strap. The top of the back strap may be a replacement, as it is steel and the rest is brass. The one piece walnut grips are very good, with some scratches and dings and show very little wear.

It has the five conventional rectangular safety notches. All original nipples intact and not broken. All screws are in good condition.

Exterior metal surfaces shows scattered blotching and light wear, but no rust, all consistent with this weapon’s age and use. It has a nice dark gray smooth patina on all gunmetal.

Mechanically it locks up tight when cocked, and holds at full cock. Double action functions fine, however the trigger return does not function. The trigger needs to be moved forward manually for the next indexing. The trigger return spring is weak and needs adjusting or replaced.

Very good looking revolver and is of the type privately purchased and carried into battle.
