"Sanctuary Pond is a book about how one individual built a small sanctuary for waterfowl in Maryland and what it has accomplished. The author describes the conversion of a salt marsh on his farm into a draglined pond where birds and other wildlife visit, feed and rest undisturbed on their annual migration."

A well-known author in his field, Roy E. Walsh recounts his experiences in constructing, maintaining and enjoying the waterfowl refuge and nesting pond built by him on his own property, for the sheer pleasure of studying ducks and geese, and providing the birds safe shelter.
