Item Description

This listing is for ONE Holster, the only one we have exactly like it. Buy any combination of 3 non gun non ammo items, and shipping is Free for the entire order lower 48. From a local estate here on the Tennessee Mississippi State Line comes this evenly used plainclothes service holster from the 1960s. Manufacturer was J.M. Bucheimer & Company, of Frederick, Maryland. The Bucheimer Company was a leading leather goods supplier from circa 1960 until the early 1980s, for civilian and law enforcement. Construction is two ply genuine leather, real American Cow, black dyed with glossy exterior, average thickness from .125 to .140 inch. Stitching is heavy dyed cotton cord, with chrome plated steel and brass snap. Model number is 450, named model Federal Man: a high ride holster that will fit a 2 1/4 inch Sam Browne belt, but usually worn with 1 1/2 inch to 1 3/4 inch wide Garrison Belt or just normal plainclothes belts. The Federal Man style is conspicuous for its long thumb break tab, that facilitates fast drawing from under a jacket or suit coat. This type holster had its heyday in the 1960s and 1970s. This holster will accommodate most medium frame six shot double action revolvers with 4 inch barrels, including Smith & Wessons model 10, 12, 13, 15, 18, 19, 64, 65, 66, 67, and the 3 prefix lightweight variants. They will accommodate Taurus models 65, 66, 80, and 82, and similar sized Tauruses, even the 5 shot Big Bore Trackers. It is also a good fit for Ruger Speed Six, Security Six, and Service Six Revolvers. Since the interior is not soft leather lined, it will eventually cause finish wear to the muzzles and cylinders of blue and nickel finished guns. This holster will not accommodate single actions, or revolvers with longer than 4 inch barrels. If a person has a full lug barreled 4 inch revolver, he or she needs to grease the interior, put forth some effort, and allow for about one month of stretching time. That includes Smith & Wesson models 581, 586, 681, and 686; Ruger model GP100 Full Lug; and Taurus and Rossi Revolvers with full lug barrels. Surface detractions is moderate, principally dye wear on the inside, and strap wear. We rate It as Very Good Condition, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Stitching and thumb strap closure is excellent. This holster comes from service in the neighborhood of Tennessee's most famous Sheriff, but the only two service revolvers we're aware of him carrying were a 2 inch 15 and a 2 1/2 inch 19. Likely some of his colleague still-busters carried this type holster. It is Period Correct for any 4 inch revolver manufactured from the early 1960s until about 1983, when the company folded. Replacement pricing on similar U.S. Made, genuine leather holsters nowadays ranges upwards of $200 apiece. We’re offering the genuine Bucheimer Federal Man holster in the photos for only $ 59.00.
